The Honorable Christopher K. Peace is an attorney with a general practice in the metro Richmond region. He is an active member of the Virginia State Bar, the Hanover County Bar Association, and is licensed to practice in District of Columbia. Peace graduated from St. Christopher’s School (Richmond, VA), received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hampden-Sydney College, and earned his law degree from the University of Richmond. At Hampden-Sydney Peace was a member of Sigma Nu, a tour guide, resident advisor, and Chairman of the Student Senate. Upon graduation, he ran a successful congressional campaign (VA-01) and after served as a legislative aide to then State Delegate Eric Cantor in 1999. After law school, a national public affairs and public relations firm, McGuireWoods Consulting LLC employed Peace to represent clients at local government and at the Virginia General Assembly. His clients included Smithfield Foods, Verizon, Virginians for Death Tax Repeal, and several local developers. In 2005, Peace launched a campaign for the House of Delegates (97th District) and ultimately won his first of seven elections in January 2006. Peace never lost a primary or general election as a candidate. Having retired from elected office in 2020, Peace continues his work in public policy as Co-Chair of the Virginia Consumer Healthcare Alliance. 

As a state legislator, Peace represented Hanover, King William, and New Kent Counties and during his fourteen sessions served with four Virginia Governors. He sat on the prominent House Appropriations (state budget) committee where he chaired both the Transportation sub-committee. and the Elementary and Secondary Education committee. Peace completed his legislative service as one of six House members on the consequential Budget Conference Committee. Peace also chaired the oldest standing committee in the General Assembly, House General Laws, and also was a ranking majority member on the Health, Welfare and Institutions committee. Peace’s extensive legislative work included service on the 2018 Select Special Committee on School Safety, the Virginia Criminal Justice Services Board, the Joint Commission on Health Care, Virginia Commission on Youth (former chair), the Virginia Housing Commission, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Board of Trustees, the Virginia Health Information Board of Directors, Virginia Council on Aging, and the Virginia Indian Commemorative Commission among others.  

Peace’s legislative leadership resulted in meaningful reforms in the areas of child welfare, school safety, and tax reform. As a result, many statewide organizations have honored Peace for outstanding leadership including but not limited to the Family and Children's Trust Fund 35th Anniversary Award, 2020 Spirit of Scouting Award- Battlefield District, BSA, State Police Association; Virginia Sheriff’s Association; Virginia Assisted Living Association, Virginia Council for Private Education, Virginia Optometric Association, Virginia Commissioner of the Revenue Association, Virginia Nurses Association, Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Virginia Housing Coalition, Virginia Retail Merchants Association, Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, Alzheimer’s Association, Career and Technical Education Association, and the Brain Injury Association. The Virginia Chamber of Commerce often recognized Peace a Champion of Free Enterprise and presented him various awards in the areas of Education and Workforce Development, and Transportation.

In the community, Peace served as a volunteer on several statewide and community groups over his career including but not limited to the LEAD VA Statewide Board; Library of Virginia Foundation Statewide Board; Metro Richmond Habitat for Humanity Board; Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership Statewide Board; Trustee of the St. John’s Church Foundation; Board of the Heritage and History of Hanover County, Inc.; Hanover County Historical Society Board; Hanover Association of Businesses/Chamber of Commerce Board; Hanover Safe Place Board; Sons of the American Revolution; Sons of the Revolution; Washington and Henry Fraternal Lodge and the Scottish Rite, the Esther Thomas Atkinson Museum, and St. Christopher’s School Alumni Board.  

Along with his children, Camden and Henry, and a German Shorthaired Pointer, Peace and his wife, Ashley, make their home in Richmond, Virginia and attend a local Episcopal Church.
